Buying a First Edition Book

A first edition is the first ever print of a book, or a copy from the first ever print run, and can be extremely valuable. For example, a first edition of Beatrix Potter’s ‘Tale of Peter Rabbit’ would fetch over £50,000. Hardback books are generally more valuable and sought after than paperbacks, and much of the value depends on the quality of the book and the condition it is in – hardback books in good condition and with a jacket are much more sought after than those without.
